FENDI has collaborated with furniture and accessory brand, Mabeo to create the ultimate new collection. The Kompa Collection is set to be unveiled at Design Miami on December 1.
FENDI and Mabeo have created something special with this collection, combining the craftsmanship and artistry of both respected brands.
Mabeo, a company from Botswana, Africa, aims to make the works of African artisans available to the world while reflecting qualities of simplicity, purity and natural materials.
Peter Mabeo Founder of Mabeo
The Kompa Collection is comprised of ten unique pieces of furniture. The collection includes the Looma Stool, efo Stool, Maduo Chair, Chichira Cabinet, Foro Chair, Gabi-Gabi sculpture, Gabinyana Table Lamp and Shiya Seat. In addition to these amazing pieces of furniture, FENDI’s iconic Peekaboo handbag is part of the collection, reinterpreted through Mabeo’s vision.
The name of the collection, “Kompa” denotes Mabeo’s eldest craftsperson, while emphasizing that something is completed with a holistic approach. The team, Kim Jones, Silvia Venturini Fendi and Delfina Delettrez Fendi, met in Rome to conceptualize this project.
In addition to the pieces of furniture, this collection is accompanied by a limited-edition publication that explores the memories of this collection including the trips, meetings, works in progress and drawings for each item.
Throughout a variety of the pieces, Mabeo has honored its collaborator, FENDI, by utilizing the famous double F. The F’s are widely present in the efo Stool, and Maduo Chair. The Maduo Chair is inspired by a piece of O’Lock jewelry which was designed by Delfina Delettrez Fendi for the Roman House. While the rest of the furniture items don’t explicitly have FENDI’s direct motifs on them, they do reflect the amazing collaboration of the two brands
The FENDI and Mabeo, Kompa Collection is debuting at Design Miami, at the Miami Beach Convention Center on December 1.
