Speakeasies or hidden bars have grown in popularity in Miami. A concept that originated during the historic Prohibition era in the U.S., these unique hangout spots have become an intimate staple for everyone in the mood for great drinks, food and an excellent tranquil time. Some of these hidden gems are easier to find than others and also easier to access, allowing more clientele to experience what they offer. But the new speakeasy in town will take guests back to the glamour of the roaring 1920s, which, with its very secret location, will turn into a very authentic experience.

Tucked away inside InterContinental Miami, one of the best luxury hotels in the city's downtown area, Freddys Speakeasy, a hidden hideaway that is only accessible by prior arrangement, is set to become one of Miami's hottest new destinations. Guests will be able to experience the Prohibition Era beginning on Thursday, August 25, 2022. After that date, they will be able to do so every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at the cocktail club, thanks to the intimate atmosphere, historic ambiance, and meticulously crafted libations.
The lounge will offer Prohibition-era-inspired cocktails crafted with herbs, house-made bitters, and freshly pressed juices in a cozy secret space that can accommodate up to 12 people. The lounge is named after the famous Polish composer and virtuoso pianist Frédéric Francois Chopin, who lived in the 19th century. Chopin's name also adorns the street on which the hotel is located.
Freddys combines the style of the 1920s — including vintage furnishings, plush seating, and a dazzling candlelit bar — with the vibe of today to create an upscale, in-the-know environment. Some of the design elements that reflect the era include vintage furnishings. After making a reservation for the experience, guests will be given directions on how to get into Freddys and will be led to a concealed location, where they will be required to provide a coded knock to be let in.
When guests enter the establishment, they are greeted with a taste of Four Ballads, made with Casa Noble infused with cilantro, Cointreau, fresh lime, and simple syrup. The Green Light is a rich, sweet and smoky decadent blend of Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, Green Chartreuse, chocolate bitters, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup. The Not Your Mama's Mamajuana is a unique take on the island of Hispaniola's fabled drink featuring 1888 Brugal Dominican Rum infused with InterContinental Miami's herb blend. The Envied Elegance is made with Tito's Vod; an exceptional Makers Mark Cask Cocktail is made in-house, infused with Italian liquor and Heering Cherry liqueur. The cocktail, which must be aged in a barrel for six weeks before it can be served, is not yet available but will undoubtedly be well worth the wait.
Due to Freddys intimate setting, the maximum room capacity is 12 guests. Reservations require a deposit and can be made on OpenTable -here. Reservations are accepted for a 2-hour window per group with seatings at 5:00 p.m., 7:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Guest must be 21 or older to enter.
Freddys is located at 100 Chopin Plaza in downtown Miami at the InterContinental Miami. For more information, visit the website. Undoubtedly, one of the most intimate and cozy establishments Miami is about to see.
