When the sun dips below the horizon on July 11, 2023, the stylish denizens of South Florida will descend upon the picturesque Marseilles Hotel. Here, on the shores of South Beach, an event like no other—Gastronomy Magazine's High Seas 23—will unveil the seamless integration of cannabis culture, high fashion, and gastronomy.
At the helm of this groundbreaking show is Gastronomy Magazine, a household name within the South FL cannabis community since its inception in 2019. With Cristina Plinio, also known as CRISP, as its captain, the magazine consistently set its compass toward uncharted territories, emerging as a nexus for cannabis-related fashion, food, and art. High Seas 23’ is their maiden voyage into the dynamic world of Swim Week shows.
The birth of Gastronomy Magazine is an illustration of a vision crystallizing from a yearning for connection. CRISP, a creative force herself, identified a chasm between her artistic community and the burgeoning cannabis industry. Moved by this disconnect, she harnessed her creative prowess to foster a symbiosis between the two worlds. Fueled by her desire to support other artists whose narratives intertwined with cannabis, CRISP pioneered a series of fashion shows, incorporating models smoking cannabis in designer clothing, which eventually evolved into the distinctive brand Highest on the Runway.
In collaboration with Cozy Caro Events, Baked Foodiez, and The Cannabis Lab, the Highest on the Runway series underwent a dazzling transformation, becoming High Seas. This inaugural Swim Week event is a testament to CRISP’s visionary zeal, cementing her status as a game-changing trendsetter in the modern fashion and art industries.
The models at High Seas 23' will strut the runway in breathtaking designs by Bravo x Romeo, Katharine Story, Angelique Miami, Swim by Brother Junior, Novados Swim, and By Crisp Shop. Every detail was meticulously arranged under CRISP's watchful eye, from the hair, sculpted by the Latto Method and Ms. Bre as hair assistant, to the makeup, led by Michelle Venta and Brazil Raine. The event wouldn’t be complete without unique cannabis-inspired accessories from Baked Gear paired with jewels by Ojos de Gitana. Angelique Miami provides the footwear, lending an extra pop of style to every stride.
Behind the scenes, a legion of talented professionals stand ready to capture the spectacle. Photographers Danny Ortiz, Donovan Moss, Andre Scheidt, Monica Molta, and Alejo LP will document every moment while videographer Frankie Cordoba creates a cinematic tribute to the event.
The impact of High Seas 23' extends beyond the runway. It represents a tangible manifestation of Gastronomy Magazine's mission to challenge and dissolve the stigmas associated with cannabis while simultaneously elevating the cannabis community. As the magazine continues to spearhead innovative content and events, it garners recognition from industry giants, earning features in Harper's Bazaar and Fashion Week Online.
As High Seas 23' prepares to set sail, it's clear that CRISP and her collaborators crafted an event that does more than showcase fashion. It breaks boundaries and challenges norms. It stands as an embodiment of Gastronomy Magazine's unique brand and serves as a testament to the power of creative collaboration. It's a symbol of change in an industry ready for transformation, with an undercurrent of anticipation for what Cristina Plinio and her crew will navigate next.
