Summertime has made its grand entrance—time to take those new swimsuits out for a spin, which means you'll need the perfect, pool-friendly 'do to go with them. We enlisted the help of Glamsquad, the on-demand beauty service for hair and makeup, to show us how to get poolside chic at Thompson Miami Beach. From luxe braids to a Beyoncé-like ponytail, stylist Marta Alicia has five easy, knockout hairstyles that'll last all day.
To achieve this boho babe look, part hair in the middle to start. Create a three-strand visible French braid on both sides running from the nape of the neck to the front hairline, leaving some strands out to add softness. Secure with a small elastic band and pull the braids apart to make them appear thicker. Crisscross the braids in the front and secure ends with pins underneath braids to give the appearance of a headband.
Start by taking a ¼-½ inch section of hair by each ear and crisscross them as if creating a fishtail braid. Cross 6-8 times and use a small elastic band to secure. Wrap a piece of hair about ¼-inch thick around the base of the fishtail and secure with another elastic band or bobby pin.
This bombshell bun begins by using a clip to section off fringe area (running from the high peak of each brow across, and from crown to top of head down). Loosely gather hair into a secure ponytail. Unclip fringe and texture with a curling iron. Create volume by finger combing and backcombing hair around the ponytail. Wrap strands around base of pony with bobby pins to create a bun.
Beach waves are a bona fide staple during warm-weather months. Starting with a middle part, create waves by wrapping sections of hair around a curling iron away from the face in the front and in different directions in the back for texture. After, take 3-inch wide sections of hair on both sides of the part and do a French braid away from the face on either side. Join the braids together in the back of the head to form a halo-like look.
Inspired by Beyoncé's high-wattage Met Gala look earlier this year, begin by flipping head over and brushing strands towards the top of the head. Massage a little pomade or wax into your hands and apply all around the hairline to smooth any loose flyaways. Then, tie hair close to the top of the head, securing with an elastic band. Wrap a small section of hair from the ponytail around the elastic band and pin secure.
