The line between streetwear and luxury fashion has become so blurred, it’s downright disappeared. Now, one of the top Italian fashion houses and leading athleisure legends come together on a creative collaboration that combines two iconic signatures into one—and it’s making moves down the runway.
Gucci Creative Director Alessandro Michele has spent the last few years reimagining Gucci’s classic cuts and styles with the signature prints and approaches of other famed fashion houses. Now, as reported by Vogue, he’s done it again, combining Gucci with iconic German sportswear brand Adidas’ iconic trefoil and three stripes.
This is a first time collaboration between the fashion house and the sportswear company, but both brands’ use of a triple line motif created a great base for the married looks.
Suits, jackets, dresses and knitwear were just some pieces sent down the runway with a mixture of textures, layering and vibrant colors that accentuated the combination of Gucci and Adidas signatures to perfection.
The Fall 2022 ready-to-wear show had a star-studded audience with appearances by “House of Gucci” star Jared Leto, Serena Williams, A$AP Rocky and of course Rihanna. Rihanna and Rocky showed up ready to serve. Both wore Gucci pieces, while the rapper showed off Adidas x Gucci gloves.
The classic three stripes were sewn down the seams of vibrant purple, green, red and blue suits, as well as the tops of matching headwear pieces from baseball caps to berets.
Metallics and studs exploded on the runway, along with the use of furs and leathers which created electric and elegant looks. Draping oversized coats on top of mixed pattern ensembles contrasted well with the sheer and intricate lace work in geometric lines.
The Gucci x Adidas collection reimagines what the classic Adidas tracksuit could be, turning it into a hybrid formal tracksuit with the Adidas trefoil and Gucci underneath it. Accessorized head scarfs, gloves and handbags also got some Adidas love.
While still showcasing the unique and world-renowned looks of the Gucci brand, the collaboration is another to add to the books of Alessandro Michele's skills of creativity and reimaging fashion.
