These six Miami restaurants are serving up delicious, health-conscious dishes you have to try now.
The Ritz-Carlton in Coconut Grove just launched this new eatery, a chic spot that was named for Isabelle Peacock, one of the neighborhood’s earliest settlers. Although the restaurant itself hearkens back to a bygone era—think dark woods, brass details, and cognac leather with pops of green and white—the menu offers a modern take on American cuisine. There are a host of healthy options to try, like a vibrant roasted beet salad, branzino with vegetable cous cous, and fresh ceviche. 3300 SW 27th Ave., Miami, 305-644-4680, isabellescoconutgrove.com
If you can steer clear from the candied bacon that beckons revelers to the bar at this Coral Gables locale, you should have no problem finding a healthy meal. That’s because in addition to the burgers, sandwiches, and other indulgent entrees, Doc B’s offers a variety of hearty salads and seafood, as well as a pizza that’s topped with avocado in lieu of all that extra cheese. 301 Miracle Mile, Coral Gables, 786-864-1220, docbsrestaurant.com
While this Design District café has quickly become a local hangout, it’s also an ideal stop if you’re in need of a healthy meal on-the-go. OTL, which stands for “out to lunch,” serves protein-packed breakfasts like super seed butter toast and overnight oats all day, as well as substantial lunch items like a market grain bowl and a black bean and quinoa burger. 160 NE 40th St., Miami, 786-953-7620, otlmia.com
The vegetable-driven restaurant within Brickell City Centre’s Italian food hall offers plant-based dishes that are as unique as they are delicious. From jackfruit tacos with cashew ricotta to vegan carbonara and chickpea gnocchi, you can get your Italian fix without feeling like you overdid it. 601 S. Since opening last summer, M House has been an upscale dining destination in Coral Gables. While the retro-glam décor and sweeping bar will draw you in, the superb quality of the local seafood and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine will keep you coming back for more. If you haven’t been, now is the perfect time to visit, as M House just launched a spring menu which highlights a variety of healthy dishes including a chef’s crudo made with a seasonal fish, and a seared tuna steak with pesto farro and arugula. 2524 S. Le Jeune Rd., Coral Gables, 786-369-5155, mhouserestaurant.com
The Miami offshoot of Chef Justin Smillie’s celebrated New York eatery, Upland is a haven for California-inspired cuisine within Miami Beach’s South of Fifth neighborhood. While the menu does feature a variety of heartier comfort foods, it’s also replete with lighter options such a massive shareable salad bowl, an avocado and falafel dish, and coal roasted salmon. 49 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 305-602-9998, uplandmiami.com
