Miami’s rich culture is what makes the city so amazing. This month, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month to honor Hispanics near and far. The celebrations officially run from September 15 through October 15, and of course, Miami is putting on some amazing events. We have rounded up some ways to help celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month this year.

On September 15 and 16, Cantina Catrina is kicking off Hispanic Heritage month with a live Mariachi band and an amazing offering, featuring 2 for 1 frozen margaritas and the traditional Chiles en Nogada dish. Chiles en Nogada is typically only served at the restaurant in August but will be served on September 15 and 16 in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. Additionally, the restaurant is adding the celebratory dish of Pozole throughout the month of September.

Rigo Leon, a Miami-based Cuban artist has partnered with many other Cuban artists to create a statement mural at Miami’s well-known Cuban-owned brewery, Cerveceria La Tropical. Titled #SOSCuba, the mural is helping bring awareness to the human rights issues and injustices in Cuba currently. The mural will be unveiled on September 16, to commemorate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Following the unveiling of the #SOSCuba Mural on September 16, everyone is invited to attend Cervecería La Tropical’s Familia Reunion. A brewery rich in Hispanic culture and history is hoping to bring together the community and encouraging individuals to share their heritage stories. Proceeds from the event will go towards The Foundation For Human Rights in Cuba.

The Museum Of Contemporary Art Miami is bringing back Jazz at MOCA in celebration of Hispanic Hertiage Month. On September 24 from 8 - 9 p.m., Grammy-nominated artist Luis Disla will take the stage with Latin Jazz Ensemble in collaboration with WDNA 88.9 FM Serious Jazz. This event is free and open to the public to gather and celebrate amazing music.

Chef Jose Mendin, owner and chef behind La Placita and co-founder Julián Gil, launched a new national holiday in collaboration with The National Day Archives. On September 24, National Mofongo Day will be celebrated for the first time, to honor the beloved Puerto Rican dish. La Placita is serving up a special menu on September 24 to celebrate the holiday with six versions of mofongo, including ensalada de carrucho, carne frita with a Don Q añejo glaze, ropa vieja, and more.
