“We give brands the opportunity to work with huge celebrities they wouldn't normally be able to afford because they couldn’t put millions of dollars down upfront,” explains Jon Zacharias, Co-Founder of GR0. “But they can afford a whitelisting campaign. It’s a new type of campaign that we're offering, and it is very, very powerful.”
Zacharias never expected to enter the world of digital marketing after completing his law degree. While working at a class-action law firm, the enterprising young man found he was far more interested in acquiring cases than litigating them. Through this, he became aware of a rather central part of the internet and data proliferation: Search Engine Optimization.
Google is a seemingly infinite database of information that people use every day, whether they’re searching for new recipes, catching up on the news, or trying to figure out the number of centimeters in an inch. With thousands of results for each search, Zacharias was fascinated by Google’s ranking algorithm. How does the search engine sort through links to list one at the top, especially when they all have the same information? What are the secrets to search engine success?
“I spent the next seven, eight years analyzing the science behind SEO before starting my company in 2019. Once I had that perfected, I started applying tactics that had never been used in e-commerce. It was really like the second wave of SEO,” describes Zacharias.
Zacharias spent years working as a contractor for brands across the country to create content designed for the age of information. This culminated in Zacharias founding GR0, which he built alongside former Google employee Kevin Miller.
"Our personalities were perfectly matched to quickly become best friends, and our skill sets were perfectly matched to become business partners,” says Zacharias. “Building a company together was the obvious next step for us, and it's been incredible working alongside my best friend to create something so significant."
Even in their first meeting, Zacharias and Miller were discussing SEO tactics. “I was showing him how to grow traffic through SEO, and he loved it so much that he wanted to start a business to help as many direct-to-consumer brands as possible use this powerful channel,” Zacharias recalls. “Everyone trusts Google. Obviously, ranking high on Google for certain words is incredibly valuable to the client.”
Despite the uncertainty amid the ongoing pandemic, Zacharias and Miller found even greater interest in the growing digital marketplace. Working with a remote-first mindset, GR0 has been able to expand at an unprecedented pace and achieve remarkable results.
"I'm so humbled by GR0's success. We believe so strongly in the mission of our company, but we never expected it to happen so fast,” says Zacharias. “I've been preparing for this for ten years, learning about SEO and organic growth for my entire professional career. To have it all culminate with GR0 bringing so much success to our clients is amazing."
