A key initiative for the event includes bridging the gap between old-school and new-school basketball perspectives, demonstrating the sport’s evolution, and showcasing the benefits of Hulu + Live TV over traditional cable for sports and entertainment consumption.
Abigale Smith, the Vice President of Partnerships at Cut, shares that Miami is the perfect location for this inaugural event. “Creating the activation in Miami holds significance not only because of the city’s vibrant atmosphere but also due to its passionate basketball culture,” Smith said. “Miami is renowned for its love of sports, with basketball holding a special place in the hearts of its residents.”
Free and open to the public, attendees can have the opportunity to meet John Wall as well as other surprise quests, play basketball, participate in games to win prizes and enjoy entertaining interviews with the chance to be featured in Cut’s upcoming social media series, “Word on the Street” and “Keep It 100.”
“Our team felt like John Wall was the perfect person to collaborate with on this project due to his status as a 5X NCAA legend and NBA superstar,” Smith said. “His influence in basketball and having now made Miami his home base makes him an ideal ambassador.”
Offering fans an in-real-life experience, Smith shares that this activation gives attendees a chance to engage with the brand, humanizing and strengthening its relationship with consumers.
“By offering a free community event with interactive elements, CUT and Hulu are demonstrating our commitment to engaging with fans beyond digital platforms and creating memorable experiences,” Smith said.
Miami servesing as the inaugural stop for this collaboration, with the hope of returning, and CUT Media and Hulu + Live TV hope to expand.
“This allows us to gauge audience engagement, assess logistical considerations, and refine the activation’s elements based on feedback,” Smith said. “This approach ensures a strategic and adaptive rollout, allowing for potential adjustments and optimizations as the activation may expand to other cities or return to Miami. We are so excited to welcome the Miami community to Crandon Beach on Wednesday, April 10 to come out and enjoy this special event with us.”
