“It’s the people’s restaurant. I want to bring everyone together and introduce authentic, healthy, and real modern Mediterranean cooking to Miami: different cultures, heritages, and ethnicities. I want everyone to dine together and feel at home while celebrating the love of life over delicious food,” said Jay Jwad, President of Vision Global Ent. Corp.
Jwad’s goal is to bring the heart of the Mediterranean to Miami. Jwad was born in Iraq and later moved to Egypt after working for U.S. forces during the Iraq war. Eagerly searching for his American Dream, he moved to Philadelphia in 2010 with just 200 dollars and no friends or family, despite not speaking one English word. There he worked for a bakery and soon two restaurants, where he built his extraordinary work ethic in the culinary world. Today, over ten years later, Jwad lives and works in Miami, where he opened ICON Mediterranean. He is now looking towards the future by opening his second concept, FAVA N SPICE, a modern Mediterranean kitchen offering delivery and pick-up only.
ICON Mediterranean's interior is filled with painted faces of people; each face represents the many different cultures, heritages, and ethnicities that define the city of Miami. Jwad built the restaurant from the ground up with his company VGM Management with a primary purpose to celebrate the differences of people, in hopes it will bring them together.
