Hair trends are always changing, from colors to cuts. With a new season on the horizon, there is no doubt that this means new hair trends.
From celebrity influences to viral social media phenomenons, hair is ever evolving.
Tapping on our local experts, we teamed up with Franck Izquierdo (@franckhair) Co-Founder of IGK Hair Care and Richy Kandasamy (@richykanda), Colorist and R+Co Collective Member, to talk all about what they are predicting for this seasons upcoming trends.

Hair trends are always changing year after year, what do you expect as the biggest trend this year?
Franck: After being home for so long, we are seeing a resurgence in people wanting a big change to feel fresh and getting bangs is one way they can feel a major transformation. Going shorter, from the length people currently have, is definitely what we’re seeing in the salon. Clients don’t just want a trim, they are open to a major cut and even a fringe.
Richy: The main hair color and cut trends for 2022 will be the mid length bob where the length will fall above the shoulder so you can have versatility when wearing a short hairstyle but have some length so you don’t feel it is too short. When it comes to color we will see more lux brunette hues, very rich and shiny with natural blonde reflections to add movement and an illusion of texture to the bob shape and create an overall expensive feeling.
What do you think will be the “it” hairstyle for summer 2022?
F: The wispy bangs, the modern shag, shag + curtains, short curly hair – French bob, braided tendrils (as seen on Euphoria), box braids: au naturel (@jessledon), grown bangs (as seen on client @marynalinchuk1), volume healthy blowout (seen on Zendaya + client @anabreco), curls (As seen on Bad Bunny, by Franck)
R: We are definitely seeing an increase in celebrities and clients heading to warmer red based shades from strawberry blonde to fiery coppers and every tone in between.
There is always a debate between blonde and brunette, what are you seeing clients wanting more these days?
F: Lately, clients have been increasingly asking for luxurious, rich browns with an edge along with adding in low lights that give a more youthful feel. From our new at-home color collection we have Hot Chestnut which is a warm golden brown and Warm Up which is a golden mahogany brown and feel very rich.
R: My clients are very in between. But there are a lot of clients that want a break from pre lightening or bleaching their hair and want a low maintenance color ,they are asking for darker and richer tones . I can say I have seen a very high demand or request of clients wanting to be brunette since the beginning of the year.
Who do you see as a hair-style icon/inspiration?
R: I will say Rihanna and Madonna, but lately Kendall Jenner and Dua Lipa have been the most talked about hair cut and color inspiration.
