Jamie Foxx and David Schottenstein Shake up the Eyewear Industry with Privé Revaux

Jamie Foxx and David Schottenstein are helping their friends, family, and fans stay stylish with their affordable eyewear company, Privé Revaux. And now with three mall kiosks in Aventura, Sawgrass, and Dadeland, Miami locals can sport these celebrity-approved shades too. We sat down with Jamie Foxx and Founder and CEO, David Schottenstein, to talk all things sunglasses and how they plan to expand the brand.

Congratulations on the success of the brand! Hailing from Miami, can you tell me what inspired you to create Privé Revaux?
David Schottenstein:
If I asked someone where I could buy beautifully made, handcrafted designer sunglasses at a reasonable price I was generally met with blank stares. Nobody had good suggestions bc the options weren't out there. I wanted to change that and offer the customer an amazing product at an amazing price without sacrificing anything in terms of brand, product quality, and even packaging. We have done that in a way nobody has done before.

Tell us more about Privé Revaux and how did you get involved:
Jamie Foxx:
I actually wore some shades that were from a gas station and put them on my social, people thought they were like Gucci or Ferragamo. So I called DaveO , Dave Schottenstein, we got together, and we said let’s make an affordable shade that everybody can buy under 30 dollars, 29.95, but we pick out all of the frames and we spare no expense when it comes to making them quality. So that’s why we wanted to do something affordable, where people really appreciate the price point because we live in a different world. What I noticed on my social is people don’t necessarily like excess. You know when they see you being too fly, they don’t like it. So now JLO, Bella Hadid, Bella Thorne, Kate Beckinsale, all of them wear our shades.

Were sunglasses always your favorite accessory?
JF:
They were always my thing. Plus, during Ray Charles, the movie, I had a lot of sunglasses and it just sort of goes with me.

Tell us about your personal style and favorite trends right now:
JF:
I’m really simple. I have a guy named Jack Manson. Jack Manson has his own company, his own clothing, so he makes a lot of stuff for me. He knows I like jackets. He has a clothing company called Gravel, It’s called from the ground up, so a lot of that is what I’m wearing now. When I do Beat Shazam, my television show, it’s all Jack Manson. It’s just comfortable. It’s not overdoing it.

Where do you see Privé Revaux going in the future?
JF:
I see Privé expanding into a lot of things. Just the logo alone on top of the hats. But we just want to keep making great sunglasses. We want to make sure that we’re chasing the Ray Bans. We’re going to be a household name.

Why did you name sunglasses after inspirational people?
JF:
That’s where we get our inspiration. After those iconic people that you see. Iconic people and Iconic friends, the DaveO.

And David’s from Miami, so what favorite shades do you see the Miami local, the Miami fashionista, wearing?
JF:
I think The Heroine is nice. I think The Sixth Man is nice. The Foxx is nice. The DaveO is classic. The Alchemist, JLO wears those a lot. They’re for Miami. They’re a clean shade, for right off the water.

David Schottenstein agrees with Jamie that these luxe frames are the must-have accessory for the fashion icon in the magic city.

I love that you expanded to Miami. Can you tell me more about your retail expansion plans?
DS:
We will continue opening flagship retail locations in major cities like Miami, LA, etc., and will continue our kiosk expansion aggressively over the coming year.

In addition to mall kiosks, do you have any plans to open Miami Beach stores?
DS:
We are looking at Lincoln Road right now!
