Juliette Porter (@julietteporter) is more than the breakout star on MTV’s hit reality show Siesta Key. Inspired by her years spent in a swimsuit while growing up on the beach, she’s now expanding her career with JMP The Label (@jmpthelabel), a size-inclusive swim and fitness company with designs to elevate women’s beach style. While being in the public eye has opened her up to negative criticism, she does her best to block out the negativity—albeit hard to always take her own advice. Now she is helping other women find their confidence and comfort by creating high-quality and stylish designs perfect for the beach and the bar.

We chat with the fashion entrepreneur and reality star about her label, maintaining a positive outlook and what filming in Miami is really like.

What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Stay true to yourself and try your best. I remind myself of this often, especially when I feel low. Nothing is a failure as long as you’ve learned and taken something away from each situation that you can apply in the future.

How would you describe yourself in three words?

Passionate, adventurous, honest

What has been your most memorable career moment so far?

The most memorable career moment was definitely creating our swim brand JMP The Label. Although MTV’s Siesta Key has gotten me far and I am thankful, I didn’t truly feel like I had a career until JMP was born, and honestly, we are just getting started!

Do you have any advice you’d give to your teenage self?

Don’t be too hard on yourself; everything is going to be OK! Instead of dwelling on a problem for a long time, focus on how to fix it.

What’s next?

I’m super excited about my upcoming JMP The Label launches. We are thrilled to be releasing a new collection called Kaleidoscope soon. Plus, we are talking about taking the brand global next year. I’m also filming the next season of Siesta Key currently—now that we’re in Miami, the heat is really turning up!
