Celebrating with our March cover star and fellow Miami resident Adriana Lima at Komodo in Brickell.
Miami never ceases to amaze me, and I’m sure I’m not alone. Case in point: Anyone who was in the Miami Design District last month when we shot our annual Women of Influence feature, “Wonder Women,” got to watch as our photographer, cast, and crew posed, shimmied, and shone through a full day of gorgeous fashion set against an impeccable backdrop. If you were one of the lucky shoppers taking a stroll, posing for a selfie (true story!), or taking fashion photos with our very own woman of influence Karolína Kurková stopping to give you pointers or shout positive affirmations at you, then you got to see the best of what Miami has to offer. Yes, only in Miami can you pose for a shot and have a world-famous supermodel walk by in the middle of her own photo shoot.
From left: Catching up with The Four Seasons’ Stephanie Cardelle at our monthly “The List” party at Sugarcane raw bar grill; with Neiman Marcus’s Cristina De Windt and Cervera Real Estate’s Omar De Windt at our March cover party at Komodo in Brickell; backstage with Joel Osteen after his A Night of Hope at AmericanAirlines Arena.
After shooting Kurková’s feature, as we headed down the escalators, we ran into none other than multi- Grammy-winning music producer Emilio Estefan taking a meeting outside his new restaurant, Estefan Kitchen. I snapped a photo of the super producer and supermodel along with legendary music producer Rudy Pérez and the conductor for the Miami Symphony Orchestra, Eduardo Marturet, which Design District visionary and creator Craig Robins then reposted on Instagram, calling it “A Great Miami Moment.” Not to mention it was blue skies and 80 degrees.
Who better to anchor this issue of Ocean Drive—a great Miami moment in itself—than another woman of influence, Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell? After leading the charge in one of the biggest cult-following TV shows of our time, she’s ready to break out onto a new path, breathing new life into her skyrocketing career. And speaking of breathing, with this, our annual May/June double issue, we take a bit of a breather, too, until July. Plenty of sun, ocean, and blue skies to soak up in the meantime. Enjoy the read.
