CLOCKWISE FROM TOP: Suede Crystal Circle box clutch ($995), Heart box clutch with crystals ($1,200), and Dice box clutch ($895), all Diane von Furstenberg. Bal Harbour Shops, 9700 Collins Ave., 305-865-1850
You need a statement bag to make an entrance at LIV or Katsuya, though that’s only one reason Diane von Furstenberg’s Fetish box clutches caught our eye. Part of her supremely strong Rendezvousthemed Fall collection, this grouping of nine limited-edition styles (only 25 to 50 will be produced of each design) perfectly sums up the duality von Furstenberg was seeking, the notion of desire and adventure mixed with a sense of timelessness. “We wanted something very seductive,” she says of the overall vibe of Rendezvous, adding that the Italian-made box clutches are part of a pointed effort to put a greater emphasis on accessories: “I like the idea of creating something you will own forever and then pass along to your daughter or granddaughter.” And why Fetish? The moniker circles back to that sense of obsession and longing, though the reference also finds its roots in Surrealism, the art movement that inspired many DVF details for the season. “I always have been very influenced by the Surrealists—my fantasy was to have had an affair with Man Ray,” she says with a smile. Desire, adventure, and possibly an assignation? Sounds like an ideal mix for the Magic City.
