As one of the city’s most beloved sushi destinations, Makoto is unveiling its latest transformation with a new rooftop dining terrace. As an extension of Stephen Starr’s long-standing restaurant, chef Makoto Okuwa’s namesake restaurant pulls inspiration from the beloved indoor design completed by Paris-based designer India Mahdavi.
Adorned with bright yellow umbrellas that expand the playful and colorful style of the third-floor restaurant, the open-air rooftop dining terrace offers 70 additional banquette seats with bold and captivating prints and additional standing room. Complete with celebrated and innovative dishes that pay tribute to Japanese tradition, including tuna crispy rice, house salad and various charcoal robata grill options, the new area takes the dining experiment to a new level.
The new location also features an expansive bar for cocktails that are as playful as ever. Set to host unique programming throughout the year, Makoto continues evolving, offering a culinary oasis for new and old guests alike. 9700 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, @makotobalharbour
