Miami-based restaurateur and hospitality veteran George Sezgin is bringing his talents to South Beach with KÓMMA, a Mediterranean kitchen and bar set to open on July 1.
“We are thrilled to share the flavors of the Mediterranean married with top-tier service to offer Miami locals and visitors alike an unforgettable experience,” says Sezgin.
KÓMMA, an Ancient Greek word that translates to ‘celebration,’ ‘gathering,’ and ‘revelry,’ promises just that—an extension of the Mediterranean with gastronomic excellence for friends and families native to or visiting Miami. The eatery will feature three distinct spaces inspired by European cafes from coastal destinations. Guests can enjoy a decadent Mediterranean dining room, an intimate cocktail lounge area and an outdoor garden oasis. Each backdrop is thoughtfully designed to create the perfect spot for any dining experience from family dinners, date nights or even brunches in the Magic City.
The indoor/ outdoor eatery fully embraces the Greek provenance with fresh, regional ingredients and a creative culinary approach. Restaurant-goers can indulge in rich flavors from fire-roasted Greek dips, including melitzanosalata, hummus, tzatziki, kommammara, skordalia, Crete feta and more. The diverse menu, led by Chef Sebastian Forero, also offers a house-made seafood Youvetsi, grilled branzino, a signature chicken kebab and KÓMMA shrimp specialties. Diners can expect personalized service and premium meat and fish family-style dishes, which serve four to six people, to be delivered and prepared tableside by Forero personally.
An extensive cocktail menu led by Jordan Cohen adds to KÓMMA’s immersive Mediterranean adventure. The flavor-focussed and sophisticated cocktail menu features carefully curated highlights such as the KÓMMA Salud made with tequila, jalapenos syrup, mango puree and lemon juice; or Nona Moves to Miami with olive oil-infused vodka, lemon juice, simple syrup, balsamic vinegar, basil leaf, strawberry and soda.
“We look forward to delivering the flavor and ambiance that makes for great memories,” Sezgin shares.
