Every Miami girl wants to stand out with her own unique wardrobe, but there are some items that are essential to every closet for it to be complete. Here, 7 Miami-based fashion bloggers dish on what they consider to be one of the most essential pieces of their collection.
Sunglasses – Stephanie Cosmopolitan, founder of The Lux Loft
Stephanie Cosmopolitan, founder of The Lux Loft fashion and lifestyle blog, went straight to sunglasses for her essential item. “I always like to have stylish sunglasses for every occasion,” said Cosmopolitan. According to her, every Miami girl needs at least two different types of glasses—a pair of chic glasses and a pair of comfortable ones. Right now for her chic shades, Cosmopolitan wears Kurt frames from Sunday Somewhere. “Their iconic art-edge style is perfect for my summer dresses.” Her comfortable glasses pick has to be the Bella frames from DIFF Eye wear. She explains, “They are comfortable enough to swim on the sunny beaches of Miami and fabulous enough to stand out.”
In High Demand founder Nikole Powers believes that every Miami girl needs a pair of sneakers that you can dress up or down. “Miami is such a casual place,” said Powers. “Having a good pair of sneakers that you can wear with dresses or shorts, and during the day or night, is really important.” Powers loves the Saint Laurent Star Court Classic sneaker. Her second pick is the low-top, unisex sneaker that was born when Puma and The Kooples teamed up.
Lynsee Hee Kyeong, founder of Style By Lynsee, points to open-toe strappy heels for the item she thinks every Miami girl should have in her closet. “This style of shoe has been my go-to for quite some time now, as it's timeless and introduces a delicateness to any outfit.” This delicateness is what makes the strappy heel a favorite for Kyeong. “They're lightweight and feminine, allowing your outfit to be the primary highlight without compromising the femininity of the overall look.”
Ginger Harris, fashion blogger for Electric Blogarella, knows what she’s talking about when she says that every Miami girl needs a solid boho piece to complete an outfit. “I've been in Miami for almost two decades now and my wardrobe would not be complete without an eclectic boho piece,” said Harris. “Something I can throw on that says one of a kind.” Picking out the right boho piece isn’t as easy as it sounds.” I like for that piece to be effortless and have a vintage feel, as well.” Her favorite piece to satisfy this requirement right now is Tricia Fix's military jacket. The jacket has the vintage feel, but screams boho with the Hmong textiles. “This piece is a total stand out, the cherry on top whether you're rocking a LBD with booties or distressed jeans and a white tank,” said Harris. “Let's just say I live in mine. “
Afroza Khan, the fashion guru behind Chic Stylista knows that when Miami temperatures soar, a colorful bralette is what you need to keep cool. “I love to show them off,” said Khan. “It elevates any simple look instantly, especially with an over-sized shirt or t-shirt, a little peek-a-boo bralette is all you need.”
Annie Vazquez, otherwise known as the Fashion Poet, is a firm believer that every Miami girl should own a pair of fun, chic everyday flats. “With the right pair of flats you can dress them up or down,” said Vazquez. A pair of funky flats from Schutz are Vazquez’s current go-to when she needs a statement piece for any outfit.
Living In Color Print founder Kristin Clark believes that every Miami girl should have a basket bag to haul around all your essential items. “It’s a fun update to a straw tote,” said Clark. “From half-moons to cylinders, there are so many different styles and shapes you can incorporate within your wardrobe to really add some personality.” Clark likes to pair the bag with one of her many maxi dresses or kaftans. “In a place where summer never truly ends, the basket bag fits in nicely.”
