Halloween, one of the spookiest and most exciting times of the year, is quickly approaching, and it is easy to feel overwhelmed and indecisive about how to celebrate and what to wear. After all, this celebration is the perfect excuse to dress to impress in the most creative ways without getting judged for it.
Even though you don't experience fall in Miami, the season when Halloween happens, the city knows how to throw it down and make you feel in the spirit of Halloween. The city has been the inspiration for many iconic movies, TV shows, and songs, so it's not hard to find inspiration for your next costume. Below you will find some of the best costumes that scream MIAMI! So you slay (literally) at your next Halloween event.

This iconic show always comes to mind when you think of Miami's television scene. Unlike traditional police shows, Miami Vice was greatly influenced by the 80s New Wave culture and is notable for incorporating modern pop and rock music and aesthetic visuals. No wonder this is first on our list because all you need is a white blazer, turquoise shirt, and white pants to look like Sonny, or a black blazer, gray pants, gray shirt, and blue tie to look like Rico. Anybody can wear this costume, and you probably have the clothes in your closet.
Are you into all-white suits? Then this will be easy. A beloved character from Scarface, Miami's most iconic movie, you will be captivating everyone at your Halloween party. If you really want to impress people with your Tony Montana costume, the main thing you need is his attitude. The clothes come in second, but you probably also have all you need for this costume: a black blazer, black pants, an unbuttoned at-the-top white shirt, and a gold chain. You can add props to make it more realistic, and if your blazer has thin stripes, even better, you probably won't need to buy any additional clothes.
This costume may require some time and creativity, but you will nail it if you follow inspiration from @JoseArellanoJr's costume shown in the picture above. Cafecito is a staple for Cubans and other Latinos in the Miami diaspora, and it has become a staple of the Magic City. That is why there is no better way than turning your Halloween costume into a moka pot.
Miami may not be the world's shark capital, but you still see many of these fantastic animals along the city's beaches. You may be scared of them, or feel fascinated but their popularity has been on the rise, and even kids love them. This is an easy costume you can buy, and even match with your loved ones. Also, it doesn't have to be scary, but you can definitely make it spooky.
This is probably the easiest costume on the list because all you have to wear is your dresses or other casual clothes, and you are done. You can either wear floral dresses with small bags or if you want to make it even simpler, wear a blue shirt and some grey sweatpants with your hair down, and you are done. Just let people know your costume is inspired by Jane The Virgin, so they at least know you are not wearing your regular clothes. Also, the show is set in Miami, so it is a win either way.
Like the shark costume, you can twist the alligator costume in many ways because nothing is more Miami than a good ol' gator. Your mom probably has an alligator costume in the attic; if not, you can find it online. It is simple, fun, and sticks to its Miami roots.
This is also one of the easiest costumes on the list, but if you haven't noticed the trend, Miami costumes are all about being yourself and feeling comfortable but elegant, and that is all you need to channel to be your best Mr. Worlwide impersonator during Halloween. Pitbull is very beloved in the Miami community and also internationally, so for a costume inspired by him, all you need is a suit, a bald cap and sunglasses.
This iconic show is originally set in LA, but the Magic City is the inspiration for the 2017 film with Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron. All you need is a red one-piece bathing suit or red shorts and a red hat for this costume. You can add other accessories to make you look more like a lifeguard and just bring good vibes.
