These duos have combined their expertise and infatuation to create a prominent force in the Magic City. From real estate to music, here are eight pairs that put the “power” in power couple in Miami.

Husband-and-wife team Masoud and Stephanie Shojaee have taken full advantage of the influx of real estate need offset the COVID-19 pandemic. With Miami becoming home to more and more residents, restaurants, and hotels, Masoud and Stephanie have combined their tenacious mindsets to lift their development firm, Shoma Group, into the realm of international success. Originally founded in 1988 by CEO Masoud, the firm has handled over $5 billion in real estate transactions. Appointed Shoma Group’s president, Stephanie’s innovative strategies for marketing inside the group has increased its profits by 30 percent. Boasting over 400 thousand Instagram followers, Stephanie is also one of the only female ambassadors for Rolls-Royce as she continues to place female empowerment at the forefront. With coinciding goals and aspirations, this pair has been involved with major Miami projects like the $150 million Oasis Square Park.
Ray and Eilyn Jiminez are the faces of the eight-episode reality series Designing Miami currently streaming on Netflix. The show follows the married couple’s business rivalry and relationship as they run their competing interior design firms. Eilyn has a knack for minimalism, while Ray self-professes as a certified maximalist. The show follows their feats to make it in the crowded Miami luxury real estate business while exploring their personal lives and Cuban and Dominican backgrounds. The newlywed entrepreneurs push each other to grow their separate ventures, creating the competitive atmosphere they need at work while letting their love for each other be at the core.
Miami’s most notable pioneers, Gloria and Emilio Estefan have pushed Miami to the heights it has reached today. Gloria has sold more than 70 million copies, released 23 albums, and is the owner of three Grammy Awards. Emilio owns his own label and recording studio and is the owner of twelve Grammys. The musical duo is the ones to thank for exposing Latin music and culture to the mainstream. The husband-and-wife pair is in Miami, with restaurants, hotels, and music all throughout the city. A mural of Gloria and Emilio can be seen in Miami’s Little Havana as an honor to the impact they have had throughout South Florida.
Married couple Ethan and Ruthie Assouline are the brains behind the Assouline Team, a hard-hitting real estate team specializing in luxury properties in Miami and New York City. With the boom of real estate in Miami following the pandemic, the duo made a total of $130 million in sales in 2020. With the demand still on the rise, Ethan and Ruthie Assouline are using their strengths as a couple to become the client’s most wanted agents. Ranked at number 12 by the Wall Street Journal, the pair’s dynamic and morals of trust and integrity are woven into the Assouline Team; a big reason why they are taking over the Magic City’s real estate as they continue to make major moves.
Craig Robins and Jackie Soffer were high-rollers before they eventually fell in love. Both born to major real estate families and prominent in Miami’s high society, the two have been heavily involved in putting marks on the Magic City. Robins, founder, and CEO of Dacra Development and co-founder and co-owner of Design Miami, is a commercial real estate powerhouse, transforming the Design District into the luxury tourist spot it is today. Soffer is the scion of the family that built Aventura and has put her own mark on the city through development partnerships as Turnberry’s chairman and CEO to create major projects like SoLe Mia and ONE Park Tower luxury condos.
Husband and wife, Sara and Ugo Columbo have notably contributed to the Miami community as influential forces in their respective businesses. Ugo Columbo, President of CMC Group, is a Miami residential and commercial real estate developer that has created some of Miami’s most iconic projects over the last 20 years. Known for his “Midas’ Touch,” his recent venture includes Brickell Flatiron, a condominium tower in downtown Brickell Financial District. Sara is the woman behind NEST, a sourcing brand for the finest home merchandise for any residential, commercial, or staged space. Sarah’s interior design company is contemporary and desirable, providing installations themselves. The pair will continue in their efforts to influence the business and community in Miami with a complimentary tenacity in similar fields.
Edgardo and Ana Cristina Defortuna is the husband-and-wife duo behind Fortune International Group. Founded by Edgardo in 1983 with the later edition of Ana Cristina’s luxury-development arm in 1998, the group has become a prominent leader in Miami real estate with landscape-shaping projects like Jade Signature, The Ritz-Carlton Residences Sunny Isles Beach, and Hyde Resort & Residences. Edgardo as president and Ana Cristina as VP, the duo is a powerhouse in the city. The pair are also active members in the community, founding Ket Biscayne Community Foundation, among other philanthropic involvements throughout South Florida.
Michael and Nikki Simkins have taken their love of Miami and each other to new heights as they continue to elevate the city. Michael is the now CEO of Lion Development and an owner of E11leven Partners with his wife, Nikki. Michael and Nikki are the brains behind the E11even franchise, a nightlife, and liquor Miami staple. With Michael’s background in business and Nikki’s background in sales, the two created a mecca. The pair also involves themselves in philanthropic interests with the Leon J. Simkins Charitable Foundation, Women of Tomorrow, Miami Beach JCC, and the Love and Hope Ball.
