What started as a simple invitation for a day on the water ignited Michael Lupolover’s passion for the yachting life. As the founder and CEO of Lupo Yacht Club, an innovative and fractional ownership membership club in Miami, Lupolover offers residents the opportunity to enjoy one of Miami’s biggest draws: the water. With his luxury membership club that allows people to enjoy the yachting life without the hassle of maintaining a vessel, Lupolover is sharing his passion with others. Here, he explains what makes Lupo Yacht Club stand out and his favorite elements about living in Miami. 400 Sunny Isles Blvd., Sunny Isles Beach,@lupoyachtclub
What is your favorite part about being on the water?
A yacht is the only place I can put my phone down, disconnect from the rest of the world and connect with the people I’m with. It’s almost like a form of meditation for me.
What was the inspiration for Lupo Yachts?
Miami has a lot of yachts for charter, but almost none give the same experience as we do. I want to provide an ultra-luxury experience to our members where they only know the best pleasures of yachting.
How does the membership service work? What makes your business unique?
We have three different tiers: Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Each gives you different points per month. During the week, one point is equivalent to one hour of usage, and on the weekends, one hour is one and a quarter points. Overnights are 10 points during the week and 12 points on the weekend.
Lupo Yacht Club offers fractional ownership, so the members become owners. However, unlike other fractional companies, the vessel has no down payment since the yachts have already been purchased. You’re just paying your flat monthly subscription fee. There’s also no long-term commitment, as you’d typically see; we only require one year. Another standout is that the points roll over up to a year, so snowbirds can continue to enjoy their perks into the following season. Lastly, you can join our club under your business and expense the membership cost.
What can your members expect?
Most yacht owners in Miami don’t have a full-time crew. Instead, they use per diem captains and stewardesses. For the club, our fulltime crew constantly maintains the yachts, which helps keep the vessels in pristine condition, ensuring that everything is in top shape, both mechanically and cosmetically. Members can expect an ultraluxury experience.
What are your favorite things about Miami?
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, but I’ve been coming to Miami since I was a little kid. My parents had a place in Sunny Isles Beach, and I have always wanted to live here. Now, I live here on the beach. I love the weather, and I love being on the water. But most of all, the best part of living in Miami is that it’s yachting weather all year round.
