The event will be held on the Center's Thomson Plaza of the Arts and is a free all-ages event celebrating South Florida's vibrant LGBTQ+ community. From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., guests can peruse the Pride Marketplace, which features local LGBTQ+ organizations, artisans, creatives, and small businesses. The event also includes a stellar lineup of LGBTQ+ artists, including Miami's own DJ Hottpants (@djhottpants), who will get everyone on the dance floor, as well as an exceptional performance by "RuPaul's Drag Race" celebrity drag queen and advocate Miz Cracker (@miz_cracker). Throughout the event, happy-hour food and drink specials will be available.
Miz Cracker is a drag queen, writer, foodie, and comedienne from New York City. She began her drag career in 2011 while marching for marriage equality in Times Square. She competed in Season Ten of "RuPaul's Drag Race," finishing in the top five and becoming a fan favorite. She later appeared in Season Five of "RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars," finishing in the top three. She now tours the world with her one-woman shows, entertains fans on her YouTube channel, lectures on drag at top universities, writes for publications such as Slate, ArtForum, Vice, and GQ, has nearly 1.5 million followers on social media, and tells the stories of incredible women through her interview podcast, "She's a Woman." Cracker describes herself as a "woman's lifestyle brand," an outspoken supporter of women's rights.
DJ Hottpants, born and raised in Miami, has been bringing guilty pleasure pop to his hometown since 2003. Hottpants has DJed the best and worst of his favorite music at notable events from Anchorage to Key West. He currently plays at a variety of restaurants and bars throughout South Florida.
The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami Dade County, located in the heart of downtown Miami, is dedicated to welcoming and connecting all people to the arts, the Arsht Center, and each other. Year-round, its stages are alive with artists from all over the world, innovative programming from our resident companies and local arts partners, free community events that reflect Miami's unique identity, and arts education experiences for thousands of Miami children.
The Arsht Center also serves as a home base for three resident companies —Florida Grand Opera, Miami City Ballet, and New World Symphony —and a springboard for local artists to make their mark on the international stage. The Center hosts over 300 events every year, including the Center's Signature Series of classical, jazz, Broadway, and local theater. We present a robust touring Broadway musical series direct from New York, South Florida's largest jazz series, a major annual Flamenco Festival, and an award-winning Miami-based theater program. Furthermore, our Family Fest, Free Gospel Sundays, CommuniTEA LGBTQ+ celebration, and Heritage Fest are among dozens of free events that bring people from the community together.
Tickets to CommuniTea Dance are free and can be reserved by clicking here. Tickets must be obtained for every member of your party regardless of age. CommuniTea Dance is supported by Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau.
