Miami has undoubtedly become an epicenter for style. Bal Harbour Shops, Aventura Mall, Miami Design District, Brickell City Centre—Miami’s most stylish women have seemingly endless options to perfect their chic beach looks. And now, Zimmermann has set up shop in Bal Harbour, bringing its brand of flirty florals and refined swimwear to the city’s most in-the-know style sophisticates.

We chatted with Co-Founder and Creative Director Nicky Zimmermann about fashion in the Magic City and her tips on living a most stylish life.

Miami has a very vibrant nightlife, from South Beach to Brickell, with world-class restaurants to uber-chic bars and clubs. What would be the perfect look for a Girls Night Out in Miami?
NICKY ZIMMERMANN: I love nights out in Miami when I’m in town! I like the idea of wearing something light and flowy, probably in a linen or a lightweight voile. I think a dress in a beautiful floral or all white can look amazing.

What’s the must-have accessory for the women of Miami Beach? And how would you style it?
NZ: A beautiful straw hat during the day is, to me, a great accessory. A wide brim hat, with a simple feather detail or raw edging finishes off a beach look perfectly.

The cultural scene in Miami has really exploded. From theater to art, and of course, gala season. What are your style tips for the woman with a busy social calendar?
NZ: To have great lightweight dresses. You can always have a beautiful vintage inspired white dress with lace and it is easy to dress up or wear with flat shoes during the day.

I would also have a print dress in the mix and would also work back with separates like a great linen short with a beautiful voile blouse. It is important to have things that you can mix and match and dresses you can take from a day party to a bar at night, with just a change of accessories.

A big thing I also like in the day is more layered-up fine gold jewelry, which looks really nice with swimwear, and for evening a statement earring is a really great way of lifting an outfit and making it look different and fun.

There is no shortage of great shopping in Miami, and Zimmermann recently opened a new store at Bal Harbour Shops. What’s the best casual chic look for an afternoon at Bal Harbour Shops?

NZ: Again, thinking about the amazing weather and quite often it can be really humid, I would go for a beautiful floaty long voile dress. I love a vibrant print or a bit of a bohemian Indian base print paired with beautiful flat tan shoes and an oversize straw bag.

What would be your weekend getaway bag essentials for the woman heading to Palm Beach or Fort Lauderdale?
NZ: It is great to take one versatile dress and then separates, so you can mix and match things. A linen ankle skirt and a cool colored cotton knit tank that can also look great with just a swimsuit. A lightweight linen pant is also a must, to mix that with a vintage inspired cotton voile blouse. I also always take some kind of lightweight voile wrap, as sometimes the air conditioning can get really cold. For accessories, a hat that can easily be steamed out, a pair of beautiful natural tan flats, a big straw bag and probably one small cross body pouch bag for evening.
