Celebrating two decades of serving the community, Miami’s Overtown Youth Center is gearing up for an unforgettable evening on Saturday, April 13. Promising a night of reflection, entertainment and fundraising, It’s All Overtown 20th Year Celebration Platinum Affair supports the Overtown Youth Center Miami’s mission to inspire, empower and enrich the lives of youth, adults and families across Miami-Dade and South Florida.
The event marks the grand opening of OYC Miami’s newly constructed facility, a tribute to the organization’s growth and impact since its inception in 2003. Designed by renowned architect Kobi Karp, the state-of-the-art center boasts 56,000 square feet of space, including classrooms, a cafeteria, a health and wellness center, a gym and more.
“OYC was founded as a comprehensive community center for youth in the Overtown and surrounding communities, as I saw an imperative need to provide a welcoming, safe and motivating place that would give people a chance at success. Today, OYC Miami has grown into a thriving community and family resource center that serves not only as a beacon but also as a catalyst for change,” says Alonzo Mourning, NBA Hall-of-Famer and Founder of OYC Miami. “I am very proud of the expansion of our building, which is a testament to the growth and impact we have achieved over the past two decades.”
Throughout the evening, guests can enjoy culinary delights from some of Miami’s finest restaurants, including Il Gabbiano, Prime 112 and Red Rooster, while enjoying live music performances, including a special set by Grammy-winning artist Ne-Yo. This milestone celebration serves not only as a tribute to OYC Miami’s achievements but also as a call to action to support its ongoing efforts to uplift underserved communities while honoring the dedicated individuals who make OYC what it is, such as Tina Brown. As the CEO of OYC Miami, Brown continues to be pivotal to the organization.
As OYC Miami continues to expand its reach, the "It's All Overtown" 20th Year Celebration Platinum Affair serves as a reminder of the organization’s dedication to building stronger, more resilient communities. Tickets are available at here.
