“I created General Public because I wanted to bridge the gap between the decorative and the fine art markets,” explains actress, artist and arbiter Portia de Rossi of her new art curation and publishing company. With the goal of making great art more accessible, de Rossi partnered with RH to launch General Public x RH. The collection offers a selection of 3D reproductions of original works by artists from across the globe such as Koen Lybaert (Antwerp, Belgium; pictured below), Kali Sanders (Los Angeles), Seb Sweatman (Johannesburg) and Paul van Rij (Amsterdam). “Although many folks have an appreciation of art and would like to own good works by good artists, not everyone wants to learn about the art market, or they find collecting—and the galleries—intimidating,” says de Rossi. “We developed a print called a Synograph that is an almost identical reproduction of the original painting—complete with texture. The Synograph provides folks with an alternative to collecting paintings and the flat posterlike print. This proprietary technology and our professional curation is how we bridge the gap.” $671-$2,951, RH New York, The Gallery in the Historic Flatiron District, rh.com
