With spreads in Vogue and Seventeen and weekly shoots for Blush Boutique, elite model and bona fide It girl Rachel Serrano slays the magic city modeling scene.
Miami’s Rachel Serrano has been working in the rarefied world of top models since she was a teenager, but she tries to maintain a grounded, positive vibe. “I don’t want it to seem fake,” she says. “I’m a real person.”
If you weren’t a model... I’d be doing something else creative. Maybe I’d be a wedding planner or a kindergarten teacher.
Favorite workout? JetSet Pilates! (4203 Ponce de Leon Blvd., Coral Gables, 305- 209-1007; jetsetpilates.com) I always struggled with fitness, but as soon as I went to JetSet, I saw results right away. I sweat more than at the gym!
How has social media impacted your career? Instagram is like my portfolio. Sometimes I have clients say, “I booked you because of the way you look in this video you posted.”
Do you feel responsible for setting a positive example for your followers? I like to follow models who eat healthy, work out, and have a good vibe, so I like to give off that same thing. I don’t want it to seem fake; I’m a real person.
Go-to place for a night out? I’m a big fan of Basement Miami (2901 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 786-641-7119; basementmiami.com). I think it’s cool how they have the bowling alley, iceskating rink, and club all in one. I also love Soho Beach House (4385 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 786-507-7900, sohobeachhouse.com). That’s kind of my thing; it’s a good day-drinking spot.
