The business world is getting more and more reliant upon technological devices, services, and platforms to function. The old-fashioned pen and paper days of tracking tasks in business are long gone. The new digital age opens a huge field of opportunity for tech savvy entrepreneurs. However, the flip side is there is a huge field of rules and regulations that have to be followed with the increase of the easily accessible technological business world.
As a business owner, the daunting list of rules and regulations to follow to even run your business is overwhelming enough. Add more technological rules to follow, and you are ready to give up. This is how Jodi Daniels saw her opportunity. Large companies are able to have in-house privacy consultants to ensure their company handles data properly. But who is helping the small to medium sized businesses? Jodi Daniels made her way in the privacy consulting world by creating a company that focuses on the clients needs by offering a broad range of services relating to privacy needs. To find success in this field wasn’t easy, but Jodi made it happen through these three practical steps.
Do What Is Good and Right
The first thing Jodi realized she needed to do in order to help her business succeed was know and believe that what she was doing was a good and right thing. Since there are so many business approaches in the world, it’s easy to not believe in yourself as being able to make it with your business idea. Add that with the stifling statistic that most businesses fail within the first five years; it makes the idea of branching out on your own unwelcoming.
Jodi always had an entrepreneurial drive, however, when she took her leap into the business start-up world, she left a career that she had known for nineteen years. Going from working in a big corporation to a small business start-up is very daunting, but Jodi knew that what she was doing was good and right, and it gave her the confidence and knowledge to take the initial leap. At the end of the day, her passion for her work carried her on. “I love making something complex simple and helping clients accomplish what seemed overwhelming.”
Be Consistent In All You Do
In any service industry, it is important to have consistent customer service, a consistent product, and a consistent reputation. Consistency is how to maintain a positive reputation, as well as build your company. Jodi realized the importance of being consistent, and she made it a focus in order to maintain her brand, that she stay consistent across the board.
Another way that Jodi stayed consistent was by prioritizing her focus on forming smart business relationships. Jodi was set on pinching her pennies, but she understood the opportunity cost of paying more for a long-lasting business relationship over a cheaper non-relational alternative. In the long-run, consistency in relationships makes all the difference in a successful business venture.
Listen To Your Customers
The last lesson Jodi learned that helped her find true success was the emphasis she placed on listening to her customers. The phrase “the customer is always right” is a scary phrase to institute as a business in a service industry, however Jodi’s approach doesn’t necessarily express the customer’s correctness, but rather the fact that she needs to listen to their needs.
Clear communication is necessary to understand how to help the customers better, and Jodi ensures her customers she will do the best she can to help them achieve their privacy goals and that marketing is privacy friendly.. Being an active listener to others needs not only is helpful in business, but is helping in instituting in all areas of life. Jodi lives her life in such a way as to listen to others for advice as well as hearing their problems. She dedicates her time and business into helping others be heard to ensure that she and her business maintains long-lasting connections with its clients.
Moving Forward In Business and Life
Looking forward, Jodi is excited for what the future holds for her company. She has been fortunate to find success in her industry, but it hasn’t happened without hard work, dedication, and long-hours in and out of the office. She hopes to find more venues to spread her message about privacy and trust. “The data privacy community is also such a great group of professionals who are helpful, supportive and genuinely want to make the world better and safer.” If you are interested in learning more about Jodi and her story to success check out her website at Red Clover Advisors.
