Maimi Based nonprofit, Style Saves, is helping the community get ready for the school season for the 10th year. The annual Back-To-School event is being held this weekend, on August 15 and 14, giving the local Miami community’s underprivileged students and families the proper necessities to enter the school year strong.
Following the organization’s donations and fundraising efforts, they plan to provide for over 10,000 students in the Miami-Dade public school system, homeless shelters, foster care and more. This year’s event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Miami Beach Convention Center, with an amazing group of volunteers to make it go smoothly. Among the group of volunteers will be the Miami-based couple, philanthropists and Style Saves board members, David and Isabela Grutman.
With the recent influx of COVID-19 cases across the city, the event has turned to a contactless pickup option. Style Saves has made it their priority that all registered students receive both their uniforms and back to school essential accessories by making the Miami Beach Convention center the initiative’s fulfillment center for the weekend. Following protocols and procedures, all volunteers will be tested before arriving on-site and will continue to wear face coverings. After volunteers have completed all fulfillment and organization, the individual kits will be shipped out to each respective family, organization and shelter.
Pepsi, a main sponsor of the organization is making sure students have all they need to succeed from clothing to school supplies, from brands such as Athletic Knit, United LegWear, Jordache, Cayre Group, Dance Hall of Fame and STRATA. Although, the organization is still accepting the donation of polo shirts and t-shirts, khaki and denim pants, sneakers, backpacks and school supplies for ages 6 and up.
The Miami-based nonprofit organization was founded in 2011, with the intention of uniting fashion and philanthropy, continuing to provide students will school uniforms, supplies, clothing, disaster relief and more. Over the last 10 years, the organization has helped endless families throughout the Miami community and beyond.
