Each year, the South Beach Seafood Festival kicks off Miami’s stone crab season with a day of fresh food, live music, games, and so much more. In an effort to showcase the talents of South Florida’s culinary connoisseurs, the week leading up to the renowned festival will be filled with high-end events celebrating the area’s food scene. From curated dinner pairings to a celebrated chef cook-off, these are the can’t-miss events of the week.
Hosted by Jackson Family Wines and Menin Hospitality, this event will kick off South Beach Seafood Week with a night of great food and fun. Taking place at the Shelborne Miami Beach’s VIP pool deck garden, attendees will be treated to a five-star culinary experience by executive chefs from Menin Hospitality’s hottest restaurants. As guests nosh on their tasty entrees, they will learn about the best crab and meat surf n’ turn pairings, and learn about the best wines from Jackson Family’s featured Master of Wines. This event takes place on October 17 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Shelborne Miami Beach, 1801 Collins Ave.
Taking place at the Meat Market, Cooking and Cocktails will feature a tapas-style menu curated by the spot’s executive chef, Chef Sean Brasel, and celebrity chef, Chef Fernando Desa. Guests can expect to be served courses featuring pan-seared seabass over black bean mole, sous vide octopus, and lobster and crab empanadas. Each course will be paired with a cocktail crafted by the lead mixologist of Meat Market that is sure to keep your palette satisfied. If you’ve ever wanted to dine like Al Capone or Frank Sinatra, now is your chance. As a spot where the two icons once cracked claws, Joe’s will be hosting a dinner in their coveted Jessie’s Room, which will feature five courses curated by Chef Andre Bienvenue. The meal will be paired with fine wines from the Jackson Family Winery and their Master Sommelier, Thomas Price. This event takes place on October 19 from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Joe’s Stone Crab, 11 Washington Ave., Miami Beach
Featuring an exhilarating cook-off from Miami’s top executive chefs, Chef Showdown features decadent cuisine, tropically fresh cocktails, live entertainment, and more during their can’t-miss event. The chefs will be competing in eight different seafood battles, with chefs from each battle taking the stage throughout the night in the showcase kitchen for well-known foodies and media personalities to judge their food. However, it’s the guests that are the real deciding factor as they get to visit each restaurant sampling station and vote on the newest champion. This event takes place on October 20 from 7-11 p.m. Lummus Park, 12th St. & Ocean Dr., South Beach
End the week with the event we’ve all been waiting for—the South Beach Seafood Festival. All day there will be pop up cafes from 18 of Miami’s top restaurants such as Dragonfly, CJ’s Crab Shack, the Steakhouse, and Toro Toro featuring dishes such as shrimp cocktails, gyros, lobster skewers, and oysters. Guests can wash it all down with cocktails from over 30 added bar locations, which will be offering an all-day open bar complimentary with your ticket. Live music will be taking place on the festival stage, the Jack Daniel’s beach club stage, and the VIP main stage with acts such as Spam Allstars and DJ Paul E.
