Two of Miami’s local favorites are now coming together to bring local residents and visitors the taste of Miami in a savory donut.
Known for its out-of-the-ordinary flavor combinations and delicious donuts, homegrown artisanal donut and coffee shop, The Salty Donut, is pairing up with the local Miami hotspot Versailles- The World’s Most Famous Cuban Restaurant, to give us the ropa vieja bun. Fusing together The Salty’s signature 24-hour baked brioche donut and Versailles’ famous ropa vieja and cheese, this donut is a true representation of Miami.

Andy Rodriguez, The Salty Donut’s CEO, whose grandfather Jose ‘Pepe’ Sanchez moved to America and opened bakeries and cafés at the same time as Versailles founder Felipe Val, shared that the new collaboration was a way to honor his Cuban heritage.
“It is such an incredible feeling to be able to honor my grandfather and Felipe, bringing our two brands together for a collaboration that not only screams Miami and pays homage to our Cuban heritage (with a twist) but is ridiculously delicious,” Rodriguez said. “I’m talking absolutely nuts.”
While collaborations with well-known brands aren’t new for the artisanal donut shop, The Salty Donut x Versailles Ropa Vieja Bun is special because it hits home for residents of the Magic City.
Starting July 30, the donuts will be available for pickup and delivery every weekend at both the Salty Donut’s Wynwood and South Miami locations. Priced at $4.95, run, don’t walk because the ropa vieja bun is guaranteed to sell out.
