Following a two-year transformation, the historic Art Deco Pelican Hotel is re-opening its doors on Nov. 24. Initially built in 1948, the property was purchased in 1990 by Renzo Rosso, founder of DIESEL, who then designed and decorated the hotel with DIESEL's Creative Team. The exceptional and meticulously restored property, complete with a redesigned in-house restaurant, the Pelican Café, will breathe new life into the iconic strip of Miami Beach.
The legendary boutique hotel combines authentic Miami style with a dreamy vibe to reflect a playful design throughout its 32 guestrooms, including seven suites, six ocean-view rooms, and one ultra-exclusive penthouse. Each room is named after a different theme and features one-of-a-kind, original vintage artifacts and furniture that have been lovingly restored over the past two years, making the Pelican a unique Art Deco icon.
The room themes range from DIESEL denim "Old Glory" to nature-inspired "Green Boo" to the James Bond-inspired "Penthouse One" (usually Renzo Rosso's nest when the fashion mogul is in town), which boasts one of the largest private terraces on Ocean Drive with unrivaled ocean views.
Design enthusiasts will enjoy a fascinating mix of vintage pieces from the 1930s to the 1990s, all found in flea markets worldwide, and specially sourced antique pieces such as 1988 black seater sofas by Antonio Citterio for Moroso found in the "Lust in Space" room. The Pelican Café's indoor dining area features the newest Hungry and Short Wave chairs recently designed by the Diesel Living team.
"The Pelican was one of the first most important boutique hotels in the world. Its original spirit has now been restored by my son Andrea in a detailed way, with authentic Deco furnishings and keeping its uniqueness intact, with every room creating the perfect background of a new adventure," said Renzo Rosso. "The Pelican Hotel is a cornerstone of Ocean Drive, and it will always lead the pack with its one-of-a-kind style."
Guests and locals are invited to unwind at the cozy in-house restaurant Pelican Café, designed by Andrea Rosso and led by Wendy Cacciatori, South Beach's most adored Italian chef. Its signature dishes are inspired by Italian cuisine and enhanced with a modern twist. It is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night cocktails. The trendy restaurant offers indoor and outdoor seating with views of the beach. A specially curated wine list at the bar brings together great Italian labels from North to South, including Rosso's own Diesel Farm bottles and an assortment of Italian Spumante and French Champagne.
Guests will appreciate the hotel's thoughtful amenities, which include beach access with lounge chairs and towels, F&B delivery service to both the rooms and the beach, and valet parking. A 24-hour concierge will be on hand to assist with off-site activities and reservations. Undoubtedly, this boutique is one fabulous addition to this iconic part of town. The beautifully-design cinematic-themed rooms will transport guests to experience the ultimate Miami vibe.
The Pelican Hotel is a dynamic meeting place where lifestyle and creativity collide. Set in the heart of the action on South Beach's main thoroughfare, the Pelican offers a robust design vibe and an unconventional approach to hospitality and leisure. It is an outstanding food & beverage destination, a meeting place for work, and a creative hub of innovative services, with underlying care for the brand-new sense of living in time and space, social, play, and work activities. A hotel sought after by savvy, unconventional individuals seeking an eclectic, energizing, one-of-a-kind experience.
