Brown crocodile leather one-handle briefcase, Gucci ($29,000). Bal Harbour Shops, 9700 Collins Ave., 305-868-6504
Exotic skins roamed the runways this season, and crocodile was among the most prominent. Calvin Klein interpreted it into hoodies as an ode to the street culture of New York, while Louis Vuitton’s subtle suede croc bomber jacket kept fashion editors on the edge of their seats. But when it comes to Miami, men should evoke some primitive magnetism and set their sights on Gucci’s brown crocodile leather onehandle briefcase ($29,000). The rich, dark sienna tone of the crocodile skin immediately captured our eyes, but it’s the details—the horn handle and minimal combination lock—which accentuate its clean lines and make it an instant classic. Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini has long had a passion for accessories, and this ode to masculine luxury showcases the finesse she developed in her previous role as creative director of accessories for the house. The briefcase was a knockout in a parade of animalistic pieces at the Gucci Fall show in Milan earlier this year, which also included gorgeous suedes and supple calfskins. Wild beasts on display for the modern style hunter—what could be more manly than that?
