The diamond that marks forever. One that comes in a blue box wrapped with white ribbon. Tiffany & Co. – the store that makes every woman sparkle and weak at the knees. And now, after ten years, this iconic boutique is revealing their newest engagement ring, coined Tiffany True. Just launched, love birds looking to tie the knot can indulge in something blue and something new, with a minimalist diamond design featuring geometric lines, ultra-fine details (including a discreetly marked “T” on the side), and an option to customize a Tiffany Blue Box with initials, monogram, date or short sentiment in silver, gold or blind embossing. We sat down with Tiffany & Co.’s Market Vice President of the Southeast, Itay Shimony, to talk all things diamonds and the history behind this timeless engagement ring, launching a new cut and design this season, and what blue box shopaholics have to look forward to this holiday season.

Tell me about the newly launched Tiffany True.
ITAY SHIMONY:
The Tiffany True is our latest engagement ring design to launch in nearly a decade and adds a contemporary design to Tiffany’s legendary engagement collection. For this new style, Tiffany leveraged its unique diamond cutting expertise to create an innovative fancy-cut diamond that exposes more surface area on the diamond’s main facet. That means heightened contrast, more dispersed light, and more brilliance. In short, more sparkle. The minimal, architecturally constructed ring has an especially delicate band, is discreetly marked on the side with a “T” and is designed to sit low on the finger. Named for its true ability to captivate, everything about the design and ultra-fine details make this ring a modern masterpiece.

What inspired Tiffany & Co. to create a new engagement ring?
IS: Tiffany is always inspired by innovation. We are leaders and lovers at our core. The new Tiffany True engagement ring fills a need for a modern interpretation of love that Tiffany can herald for future generations. This new engagement ring is destined to become another icon of the house.

The first "Tiffany Setting" diamond ring was introduced in 1886 and has become an icon of the brand. Can you give us a brief history of the Tiffany engagement ring?
IS: The first Tiffany Setting dates back over 130-years, created by our founder Charles Lewis Tiffany, whose goal was to create a ring that highlighted the beauty of brilliant-cut diamonds. This innovative design elevated the diamond above the band, maximizing the light reflected from the stone’s exquisite cut, which was drastically different from Victorian-era designs.

To put the timing into context, the year the ring became available in 1886, the Statue of Liberty was open to the public and Coca-Cola appeared on grocery shelves for the first time. Like those other American icons from the era, the Tiffany Setting has endured. The six-prong setting has become a universal symbol of love and commitment. Now, with the launch of Tiffany True with its unique setting and expert cut, we are introducing a supreme expression of modern love.

How has Charles Lewis Tiffany's vision expanded today and how has his legacy continued to grow?
IS: An instant success, the Tiffany Setting has remained the most sought-after engagement ring style since its launch. The expertise and warmth Tiffany adds to the most meaningful jewelry purchase in anyone’s life has been captured in movies, written about in books and made all kinds of popular culture appearances. Take a look at the engagement ring emoji on an iPhone, it’s a solitaire with six prongs. Tiffany has expanded into the most intimate and integral parts of our society and will continue to uphold our legacy of excellence - offering the most beautiful diamonds on earth with a standard for quality and craftsmanship that is unparalleled.

Tiffany & Co. is also devoted to sustainability. How would you say Tiffany & Co. is a leader in presenting sustainable luxury?
