Nature heals, and sometimes we need to escape from the busy city, but it’s difficult to find a good green space in the urban jungle. That’s why you need a garden!
Gardens can serve different functions and come in a wide variety of designs. A lot of us tried to strengthen our green thumb during quarantine, and there were some definite trends that emerged in the world of personal gardening.
Atlas Ceramics, an online ceramic retailer based in the UK, took a closer look at the most popular garden trends for this year. The company conducted a study, analyzing search data from Instagram, TikTok and Google to find the most popular garden design concepts. Atlas Ceramics then rated each garden trend on a scale of 10 to finalize its ranking.
So, what are we most excited about? Pergolas, apparently. These special garden structures built with posts are often covered in flowering vines, and they’ve stolen our hearts and taken the top spot.
Pergolas are a beautiful way to add some shaded sitting space to your garden. Additionally, a pergola can create a central point for your green space. Nearly 1 million people posted their pergolas on Instagram, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding some pergola inspo.
Birdbaths took second place on the list. Perfect for luring song birds to your space, this trend adds real liveliness.
Garden beds were a close third, as many saw an increased interest in learning to grow their own fruits and vegetables. Not only is it satisfying to harvest self-grown crops, it can be a lot of fun. If you are going to start a raised garden, Atlas Ceramics recommends thicker tiles of at least 20mm to handle the outdoor elements.
While those three topped the charts overall, different social media platforms saw slightly different trend popularity rankings. For example, pergolas and birdbaths still took first place on TikTok, but garden bars received nearly 10 million views on the short-video platform to steal third place. Who wouldn’t want a personalized bar amid the flowers and trees?
Raised garden beds actually stole first place on Google, receiving more than 2.7 million searches. Birdbaths took second place there too, while garden benches—a new garden trend—took third place.
If you’re looking to revamp your garden and change things up, this ranking should be your go-to resource. Check the full study results online, and visit Atlas Ceramics to make your garden design dreams a reality.
