One of the most anticipated fights yet took the ring at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino this past weekend. Vitor Belfort vs. Evander Holyfield came together for Triller Fight Club Legends II, on September 11.
The fight was short, but most definitely a thrilling one! Belfort took the win in the first of eight rounds, after a technical knockout. The TKO had happened, and the fight was stopped at 1:49, in Round 1.
Belfort took the win to heart with a beautifully written Instagram post on Sunday morning. In his caption is heartfully stated, “I am here not talking about the victory but about the trajectory of getting here. Defeat is the easiest and shortest path, for those who think small, because to get to it, yes I'm talking about defeat, a path of great effort was also trodden, but only the big ones know how to value each moment and those who think small stay in the crowd to humiliate and bring you down.”
Holyfield came to the stage in this fight after a reschedule from the evening’s original plans of Belfort vs. De La Hoya. The 58-year old former Cruiserweight and Heavyweight Undisputed World Champion fought against 44-year Belfort, the Former UFC Heavyweight World Champion. This fight was following a decade of retirement for Holyfield.
Holyfield and Belfort were the main card of the evening, but the other cards included, Anderson Silva defeating Tito Ortiz by knockout in, Round 1, Jono Carroll defeating Andy Vences (95-95, 97-93, 97-93) and David Haye defeating Joe Fournier (79-72, 80-71, 79-72).
The fight had a lively audience as well as being streamed via pay-per-view, one of the many benefits of the Triller Fight Club platform. Be sure to keep up with Triller Fight Club's schedule to see when and where the next fight will be.
