Truffles, the subterranean fungi that are both rare and difficult to grow, are a precious and sought-after commodity on restaurant menus, often seen as an add-on to fries or pasta dishes. The most expensive variations are packed with flavor and infused with aromatic scent, a recipe for a pleased palate. These six Miami restaurants are serving up unique truffle selections with just the right amount of heartiness in time for autumn.
Chef Niven Patel’s Caribbean-inspired and James Beard-nominated Mamey in the THesis Hotel presents a spectacular truffle dish peppered with island flavor. One of the finest varieties of truffle, White Truffle is served with Brie Grilled Cheese and Sullivan Street Bread, along with a tangy Florida Mango Jam.
Negroni Midtown offers everything from sushi to burgers to pasta, with the addition of truffle sprinkled in for extra flavorful measure. On weekends, indulge in the Truffle Eggs, which is a scrambled eggs dish that comes with truffle Stracciatella and sauteed mushrooms over sourdough toast. The Truffle Burger and Truffle Gnocchi are also stacked with fungi zest, but it’s the Hamachi Truffle that steals the show (if you’re a fish lover), with the truffle ponzu sauce, togarashi, shoestring potatoes, and black truffle.
There’s no need to jet off to Europe to revel in truffle pleasure when French-Mediterranean supper club Villa Azur offers a robust menu of truffle delights. Whether it’s the $70 Truffle Burrata, the Arancini Lobster with truffle aioli, cauliflower, and parmesan cheese, or our personal favorite, the Raviole de Romans, a French ravioli dish with truffle cream and shaved fresh truffle, your truffle fantasies will surely come to life at Villa Azur.
Renowned for its modern take on Nikkei cuisine, Chotto Matte doesn’t disappoint on the truffle front, which it manages to innovatively blend with Nikkei offerings. Sashimi and truffle make for a delightfully fresh combo in both the Yellowtail and Spicy Tuna variation. The Yellowtail “Nikkei Sashimi” comes with cherry tomatoes, jalapeño, cilantro, and the grand finale—yuzu truffle soy. Go for the Spicy Tuna to experience crispy filo Aji truffle, with wasabi soy and shiso cress.
When you pair Japanese and Brazilian flavors together, what you get is a culinary masterpiece—and that’s before truffle is introduced to the scene. Five-time Michelin Star chef George Koshoji is the mind behind Kosushi Miami, which offers a decadent cold dish selection of King Crab, with truffle-infused butter and pink salt, and a Salmon Toro Truffle sushi item that consists of torched salmon belly and truffle oil.
Pasta and truffle might be a predictable pairing, but still, it always hits the spot. Neapolitan Miami Beach eatery Fratelli La Bufala captures the bold essence of truffle in its rich pasta offerings. The Pappardelle Ai Funghi Porcini comes with sauteed porcini mushrooms and thyme, with the option to add truffle oil and a carpaccio truffle slice—double the truffle treat.
