Legend has it there was a sign in the original Waldorf Astoria in New York City that read, “The difficult immediately, the impossible takes a few moments longer.” This mindset is integrated into every element of the brand’s DNA and hotel. As a recent guest at the recently renovated property, located on the 482-acre Bonnet Creek Nature Preserve, it is evident the service-oriented brand standards travelers have come to love and expect are seeped into every detail of the property.

Weaving hidden treasures and details throughout the design, the property serves as a sanctuary from the Disney Parks, residing just minutes away. Upon entry, I am greeted with sophistication, and once I step inside, I feel any stress melt away.
Reimaged by Parker Torres Design, the decor pulls from the original property’s art deco design while incorporating details of the hotel’s surrounding landscape. Welcomed by a grand sense of timeless luxury, the front desk immediately captures guests’ attention with a dramatic focal wall created on-site by Rob Baytor, Miriam Torres and Jessica Puliti. Greeted by the iconic Waldorf Astoria brand clock and a custom-made chandelier with handmade, fabricated leaves, I feel the brand’s iconic history surrounding me.

With 502 guest rooms, including 171 suites on-site, the newly renovated rooms are decorated with organic and calming shades of soft greens with pink and orange highlights. Ideal for friends, families and executives alike, the design team worked to incorporate customized artwork, ushering the Florida landscape into the rooms. For more space, the newly renovated Astoria and Waldorf suites offer four bedrooms. In contrast, the presidential suites offer bespoke design features and are the ideal enclave for executives and diplomats alike to find a home away from home. Complete with luxurious amenities such as a Nespresso machine, Aesop bath products and captivating views, the room offers the perfect respite from the outside world.
Going through its own reinvention, the culinary scene on the property offers unique dining experiences, thanks to the executive chefs helming the menu, who bring their unique interpretations to the food. Or, if you’re craving a classic steakhouse menu, the award-winning restaurant Bull & Bear serves guests an array of showstopping favorites. There is no shortage of culinary delights, from the fried chicken to the pasta explosion or innovative tomato cheese dish. With opulent delicacies such as the grand seafood tower, the baked potato, veal Oscar, and more, innovative and reimagined culinary creations are aplenty.
Of course, a meal isn’t complete without dessert. Dine on signature baked goods such as the vanilla Napoleon with caramelized mille-feuille, Tahitian vanilla bean custard, vanilla crème chantilly, pineapple chutney and coquito gelato or the ring of yuzu presented with a cloud of liquid nitrogen.

After dinner, grab a nightcap from the renovated Peacock Alley. Drawing design inspiration from its namesake’s feathers, the new lounge combines modern art deco with elegance and pops of color. With an inviting cocktail menu, sample unique creations such as the Milk Punch Of the Moment, based on seasonality and local Florida ingredients, which undergoes a clarifying process.
Perhaps the most exciting part of the trip is the ability to experience the best of both worlds. As an official Disney World Resort, the property offers transportation to and from the parks, early park entry and fireworks views from almost every room.
Enjoy a serene escape at the renovated spa with signature treatments and experiences such as the sand and sea treatment. Designed for individuals and couples, the treatment combines color therapy, spherical sand-like quartz and a heated water mattress to help achieve inner relaxation. You can also take advantage of ease-inducing salt rooms or customize massages with essential oils for a full body reset—exceptionally luxurious after walking around any theme park all day.
Whether opting to arrive on-site via helicopter, embark on a day at the parks, or spend time at the signature 18-hole greenery, take advantage of personalized service and family-friendly offerings that make for an unforgettable getaway. Embedding unparalleled hospitality into every component of the redesign and travel experience, it’s easy to feel the magic during your stay. 14200 Bonnet Creek Resort Lane, Orlando, @waldorforlando
