Where to Get the Best Burgers in Miami for National Burger Month & Beyond

By Carla Torres | May 20, 2016 | Food & Drink

May is National Burger Month—besides being a really good excuse for indulging in juicy buns and a whole lot of red meat sans the guilt, it's also an opportunity for restaurants to turn up the heat. Get your patty party on and bite into any one of these decadent creations before the month is over.

ROK:BRGR

ROK BRGR American Wagyu Kobe Burger

For this month only, ROK:BRGR is flipping a special American wagyu kobe burger complete with foie gras, a special blend of truffle cream brie, and blood orange marmalade on a brioche bun. As if that weren't enough, it's topped off with summer truffles shaved tableside and served with truffle fries—because too much truffle is never enough. 5800 SW 73rd St., Miami, 305-663-6099

Pincho Factory

Pincho Factory Quesadilla Burger

Why choose between a burger and a quesadilla when you can have both? Low and behold Pincho Factory's quesadilla burger. Back by popular demand and until further notice, the custom blend of short rib and chuck brisket is topped with queso fresco, freshly made guacamole and pico de gallo between two—you guessed it—quesadillas. (Disclaimer: Handle with care.) If you're looking for something with a little more substance, the off-menu foreman burger swaps out the archetypal rolls for two grilled cheese sandwiches. You'll never miss buns again. 30 Giralda Ave., Miami, 305-446-5666

Meat Market Miami Beach

Meat Market Miami Smokers BBQ Burger

Chef Sean Brasel is doing National Burger Month justice with a handful of patties for every palate, from American wagyu and smoked short rib to ground buffalo. But it's the Miami Smokers barbecue burger, featuring local pig whisperers Miami Smokers' own house-ground beef blend with its own handful of cuts (prime skirt, chuck, ribeye, Japanese wagyu fat, and maple habanero sausage) crowned with roasted, sweet, and smoky pineapple barbecue sauce, bacon, and gruyere that will leave you salivating and unlikely able to finish it all. 915 Lincoln Rd., Miami Beach, 305-532-0088

The Spillover

The Spillover Bababooey Burger

The Spillover may have just opened last week but if anyone has achieved farm-to-table burgerdom, it's Matthew Kuscher at sister joints Kush and LoKal. And while The Spillover might be a seafood shack, it wouldn't be a Kuscher restaurant without a proper burger: Enter the bababooey burger, or described by Kuscher himself as, "By far the best burger of any of our restaurants." This is a heavy claim he backs up with in-house ground beef straight from Cowart Ranch and Farms in Florida, brie, caramelized apples, homemade cinnamon butter, honey mustard, crispy bacon, and grilled onions. Get it all of May and indefinitely after that. 2911 Grand Ave., Miami, 305-456-5723

Michael Mina 74

Michael Mina 74 Vegetable Mille Feuille

Every year, Michael Mina 74 ups the ante for burger month with previous years proffering everything from a salmon and spicy tuna burger to a chili mac 'n' cheese and chorizo frita. This year, vegetarians can rejoice in the vegetable mille feuille, which showcases smoked eggplant, tomato, grilled zucchini, and mozzarella cheese between cloudlike buns. Plus, the whole thing is bound by zesty romesco sauce like the one former chef de cuisine Thomas Griese used to make. 4441 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, 305-674-4636

Sugar Factory

Sugar Factory Burger

The last thing you'd expect from a place called Sugar Factory is a burger dubbed, "the big cheesy," yet that's exactly what you'll get from one of seven new over-the-top burgers. In it, you'll find Angus beef, macaroni and cheese, and smoked apple wood bacon. Bite with caution. 1144 Ocean Dr., Miami Beach, 305-604-0323
