Miami is no LA, but when celebs need a tropical paparazzi break and don’t want to deal with flying overseas, they book a first class ticket to Miami. While events such as Art Basel and Miami Music Week attracts floods of celebrities, it doesn't mean that the city doesn’t play host to famous folks throughout the rest of the year. Here’s a cheat sheet to spotting a celebrity in the Magic City, no matter what time of day it is.

Where To Stay

Faena: Faena, Miami Beach’s most opulent new addition, is a major magnet for celebrities. Since opening in December, its list of celebrity guests has amassed quite a number, including Jay Z and Beyonce, Usher, The Rolling Stones, Alonzo Morning, Karolina Kurkova, Leonardo Dicaprio, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, Katie Holmes, Mario Testino, and Neil Patrick Harris. 3201 Collins Ave., 305-534-8800

1 Hotel South Beach: Miami’s most eco-friendly hotel is also fame-friendly. Its guest list includes Cindy Crawford and Jessica Alba. 2341 Collins Ave., 305-604-1000

W South Beach: A South Beach classic, W South Beach is a central wonderland for celebrity sightings. Recent guests include Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna, Vanessa Hudgens, Justin Bieber, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Christina Ricci. 2201 Collins Ave., 305-938-3000

Soho House: Leave it to Miami’s most exclusive members-only club to attract the largest roster of famous faces. Jennifer Lopez, Sam Smith, Rosario Dawson, and even Prince Harry have been sighted here. 4385 Collins Ave., 786-507-7900

Where To Eat And Play

Ellie Goulding Birthday

Basement: Where else in Miami can you bowl, ice skate, and dance the night away? When celebrities want an intimate affair, they rent out Basement at The Miami Beach EDITION. It’s where Drake threw Rihanna the afterparty to her concert in March, and it’s also where Ellie Goulding celebrated her 29th birthday. And it’s also where Leonardo Dicaprio hosted a private party three nights in a row during Art Basel. Other partygoers include Usher, Miguel, Dwyane Wade, and Gabrielle Union. 2901 Collins Ave., 786-257-4548

Anatomy at 1220: Miami’s most exclusive club isn’t LIV or Story, it’s a wellness center. Anatomy at 1220 is much more than a gym—it’s a fitness complex, a spa, a salon, an age management powerhouse, a place for vitamin infusions, and even a boutique. Will Smith, Tiesto, Hulk Hogan, and Gabrielle Anwar are just a few of the celebs you could be pumping iron next to. 1220 20th St., 786-213-1220

DIRT: When David Beckham is in town, you can almost always find him at DIRT, South Beach’s hippest healthy food spot. It’s a favorite of stars looking for a casual and healthy bite, especially in the AM. 232 Fifth St., 305-763-8548

Komodo Miami: Dave Grutman is the unofficial celebrity ambassador in the Magic City, so naturally his first culinary venture is a magnet for celebs looking to feast on authentic Asian cuisine. Diners include Ashley Benson, Lil Jon, Kourtney and Kim Kardashian, Lisa Hochstein, Kaskade, Shane Battier, and Avicii, just to name a few. 801 Brickell Ave., 305-534-2211

STK Miami Beach: Located within 1 Hotel Miami Beach, STK Miami Beach offers stars the perfect dining experience before an epic night out. Faces like Sam Smith, Nas, Kelsey Grammer, Tyson Beckford, and Kevin O’Leary have walked through the doors, so you never really know who you’ll find there on any given day. 2305 Collins Ave., 305-604-6988

El Tucan: Brickell’s very own cabaret attracts its own roster of celebs. Karolina Kurkova celebrated her birthday there with her husband and family, while Adriana Lima has been spotted multiple times dancing to the Cuban cabaret. Will Smith has even made an appearance at the joint, walking up to the stage to hand Jahzel Dotel, El Tucan's jazz performer, a bottle of water when she requested it. 1111 SW First Ave., 305-535-0065

Drake E11Even

E11EVEN: Miami’s most glamorous after-hours joint brings South Beach’s celebs to the mainland, 24-hours a day. Head in during the wee hours of the morning to find celebrities like Drake, Miley Cyrus, Usher, Kevin Hart, Lil Wayne, Amber Rose, Dennis Rodman, Floyd Mayweather, Jamie Foxx, and Jermaine Dupri. 29 NE 11th St., 305-829-2911

LIV: What celebrity doesn’t pop into LIV during a trip to Miami? Celebrity clubgoers include the Kardashians, Kanye West, Scott Disick, Justin Bieber, Drake, Sean “Diddy” Combs, Eva Longoria, Jamie Foxx, Scottie Pippin, The Weeknd, Nick and Joe Jonas, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Ja Rule. 4441 Collins Ave., 305-674-4680

Story: Miami’s largest club also attracts a roster of A-List celebs, including Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, John Legend, Chrissy Teigen, Reggie Bush, Michael Bay, Kourtney Kardashian, T.I., Vanessa Hudgens, Sofía Vergara, and DJ Khaled. 136 Collins Ave., 305-538-2424

Bal Harbour Shops: Miami has its fair share of malls, but none attract the celebrity clientele that Bal Harbour Shops does. Whether they’re closing down stores or dining at Makoto, celebrities spotted there as of late include Sofía Vergera and Joe Mangienello, the Kardashians and Kanye West, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, Antonio Banderas, Donald Sutherland, Elle MacPherson, Kelly Rowland, Jonathan Cheban, and Adriana Lima. 9700 Collins Ave., 305-866-0311

The Villa at Casa Casuarina: The former Versace Mansion welcomes a guest list of celebs as grand as its decor, including Justin Timberlake, Justin Bieber, the Kardashians, Drake, Mel B., Beyoncé, Jay-Z, and Lionel Richie. 1116 Ocean Dr., 786-485-2200

Wall Lounge: A Miami nightlife staple, Wall Lounge has always attracted a roster of celebrities and continues to do so. Nick and Joe Jonas, Jennifer Lopez, George Clooney, Leonardo Dicaprio, and Paris Hilton are just a few, so don’t be surprised to find surprise DJ sets by the likes of Jamie Foxx during the high season. 2201 Collins Ave., 305-938-3130
