Crafting an exclusive menu with vibrant dishes for you and your guests in the comfort of your own home, Zuma Miami is presenting Miami sushi connoisseurs with a new experience that’s tantalizingly delicious - and anticipate a star studded team and servers to come along too, of course. Ocean Drive sat down with Zuma’s Chief Executive Chef, Oliver Lange, to fill you in on their newest, high-quality accommodating services, what to expect on this exclusive menu, their signature libations inspired by worldwide locations, and Zuma Miami’s signature dishes and apparel brought straight to you with love.

Tell our Ocean Drive readers about Chef Rainer Becker’s internationally acclaimed and informal dining style, now available for in-home dining, coined izakaya?

Chief Executive Chef Oliver Lange: Zuma is a contemporary Japanese restaurant in downtown Miami. Zuma boasts three distinct kitchens; the main kitchen, the sushi bar and the robata grill - a concept which originates from the cooking style of Northern Japanese fishermen, first introduced to Europe by Chef Rainer. Greatly influenced by his time in Japan, Rainer has introduced a modern, elegant and sophisticated cuisine philosophy that is inspired by the informal Japanese dining style – izakaya.

For Rainer, Zuma is about a complete dining experience; an experience where each element is of equal importance, yet each element serves the same purpose – to complement the taste and flavor of the food.

Zuma was founded in London in 2002 and now has locations internationally including Dubai, Hong Kong, Rome & New York City.

What can Miami home diners expect from this exclusive experience?

OL: Diners will enjoy the Zuma experience in the comfort of their own home. Our executive chef will take over the guest’s kitchen and or backyard bbq area (replicating our robata grill).

Guests can experience a cocktail reception with passed canapés in their very own living room, watch their kitchen counters magically turn into the Zuma sushi bar, and sit back and relax in their very own backyard as they enjoy hearing the sizzle of a wagyu tomahawk steak begin grilling to perfection right before their very eyes.

Do your team and servers, in the staple Zuma attire, travel to the Miami diners' homes?

OL: Yes, we are bringing the entire experience into your home.

What vibrant dishes do you and your team prepare for these in-home diners?

OL: Our entire menu can be brought to your home, such as our signature dishes, black cod marinated in saikyo miso, spicy beef with sweet soy, yellowtail sashimi with green chili relish, sushi and sashimi platters, dessert platters and seasonal dishes that are created with the freshest ingredients of the season.

Is this exclusive menu different from the traditional in restaurant dining menu?

OL: We co-create menus based on what the guest is looking for using our a-la-carte menu.

And can diners curate their own menu with you?

OL: Yes.

Does the luxury catering experience include one of the venue’s professionally trained cocktail specialists to deliver a taste of signature creations inspired by each of their worldwide locations?

OL: Yes, upon request and availability.

If so, can you go into detail about what cocktail enthusiasts can expect?

OL: We have an extensive cocktail list with Zuma classic and innovation cocktails the diners can choose from.

What libations, inspired by each worldwide location, will be served?

OL: Cocktail Sake and or wine pairings/tastings to complement their meal.

Which libation is inspired by the Miami Zuma location?

OL: Zuma Zacapa Live Solera Miami, crafted as a Vieux Carré cocktail, with cacao nibs, coconut, pineapple and nori, served over carved ice.

Tell me about the small touches and details – representative of Zuma’s personality - that are brought to diners' homes. Do you bring Zuma's signature dishware with you?

OL: Yes, our signature dishware is brought to the guest's home to ensure the Zuma experience is replicated (platters, bowls, chopsticks, serving trays), all identical to the experience you would have dining in the restaurant.

I saw that you're launching a caviar and Krug champagne experience. What does this VIP experience entail?

OL: Sturia Oscietra Grand Cru caviar and Krug Grand Cuvée champagne with Japanese condiments…now available only with a preorder.

Catering to diners in their homes, does Zuma Miami plan to cater on water?

OL: Yes, we already do. We bring the Zuma experience via land, sea and air!
